The Front Window — Open Call Curatorial Program

Curatorial

The Front Window is a curatorial and public-facing program developed by Yohanna M. Roa that rethinks exhibition-making through immediacy, accessibility, and urban encounter.

Conceived as an open call platform, the project activates the storefront window as a site of display and exchange, bringing together a rotating selection of artists and practices across disciplines. Positioned at the threshold between interior and exterior space, the program engages the everyday passerby, dissolving boundaries between art and daily life while foregrounding visibility and participation.

As described in the program, The Front Window operates as a non-hierarchical structure of shared knowledge and resources, drawing from both artistic and vernacular forms of expression.

Through its iterative and time-based format, the project proposes an alternative exhibition model—one that is responsive, ephemeral, and embedded within the rhythms of the city.
