The Another Postcard: Here and There is a curatorial project developed within the WhiteBox exhibition program, as part of the New York Artscapes series.
Curated by Yohanna M. Roa, the project brings together a constellation of artistic positions that reflect on displacement, memory, and the shifting geographies of belonging. Working across diverse media and conceptual approaches, the exhibition considers the postcard not as a fixed image or souvenir, but as a fragmented and mobile device—one that mediates distance, translation, and the construction of place.
Situated within WhiteBox’s ongoing commitment to site-responsive and critically engaged practices, The Another Postcard: Here and There unfolds as a dialogue between “here” and “there,” foregrounding the tensions between proximity and distance, presence and absence, the local and the transnational. The exhibition invites viewers to reconsider how images, narratives, and spatial imaginaries circulate across contexts, shaping contemporary experiences of location and identity.
