As part of the WhiteBox Staff & Internship Involvement Program (SIP), Have a Good One! marks the first project in this series developed through mentorship and curatorial training.
Conceived and realized by Winter ’24–Spring ’25 interns Christy Li and Debora Maurelli, and mentored by Yohanna M. Roa, the project reflects WhiteBox’s long-standing commitment to experimentation, collective learning, and socially engaged practice. SIP operates as a space where emerging practitioners are invited to develop curatorial ideas from concept to execution, engaging directly with exhibition-making as a critical and lived process.
Have a Good One! takes as its point of departure the everyday ecology of the New York City bodega—its rhythms, exchanges, and visual culture. Through this lens, the project reflects on the aesthetic and affective dimensions of daily life, inviting a reconsideration of ordinary gestures, ephemeral encounters, and the unnoticed forms of care and connection embedded within them.
